AS IF THROUGH A SCREEN DOOR (E A D G B E)
You don’t do it because you want to. I am thinking of you. You do it because need to.
You don’t ever wake up too late. Even on the first of May. I hope this month is OK for you.
My eyes always feel like burning. While the road is gradually turning. It feels like something is returning.
You don’t do it because you want to. You do it because you need to. Sometimes it just flies right past you.
Don’t blame the garbage man for waking you up. He’s just doing his job; he does not give a fuck.
And why would he? Why should he?
Now I know I cannot save anyone. While the world is quickly coming undone. It’s hard enough keeping myself zipped up.
Don’t blame the great white for circling you. You’re a juicy piece of meat and you probably taste good. So, let’s go swimming.
Now you know you cannot save anyone. And I hear them as if through a screen door, but I will not worry about you anymore.
It’s only because we need to.
