Absolution

ABSOLUTION (E A D G B E)

We found it in the corner. Leaking green and orange. Must’ve been there for a while.

We didn’t want to touch it. Didn’t talk about it. Pretended like it wasn’t there.

Two or three weeks went by. It looked like it was growing. Could smell it from my bedroom.

I grabbed a plastic bag and wrapped it round my hand and picked it up by the tail.

I walked into the bush and stood under the gum trees. Waited for some quiet.

It crawled out of the bag and sniffed around the dirt. It looked happy as I left.
