IT SMELLED LIKE RAIN (D A D G B E)
It smelled like rain but not in sad way. And I wondered why I used to think it smelled like that.
I stood on the grass; I was tired and sunburnt. I had a headache but it felt like it would slink away.
There are rain clouds just above you. But I still know I can trust you to be better than I was.
It smelled like rain; I didn’t want to shut the front door but the kitchen was frighteningly close to flooding.
I ran to the window and left it open just a crack. I still wanted to feel like I was part of something.

We are falling faster every day. I still believe we’ll be ok.
It smells like rain but the wind just died off. And I wonder if the surf will be any good.
I’m stripped down to my boxers, standing in the driveway. And I wouldn’t mind if it started raining again.
