There is no way down from here

THERE IS NO WAY DOWN FROM HERE (D A D F A E, capo 2)

There is no way up from here. Even if the clouds disappear. But it’s supposed to rain for the rest of the year.

Even if the sky splits in half. Even if those clowns make me laugh. There is no way down; there is no way up.

 

And now more than ever I’m so at a loss. I gave up all my things but didn’t know what they’d cost. Now I’m wading through a river I don’t know how to cross.

 

And now more than ever I’m burdened by time. Like a shadow on my back I carry through the night. I carry through the light, like a secret I hide.

 

I carry through the night something too big to hide. Now more than ever I’m heavier than time.
