ONE DAY OR MAYBE TONIGHT (D A D G B E, capo 5)
The morning, the afternoon. The sunset, the crescent moon. The feeling something has changed.
I know now it’s not the same. And some things don’t have a name. I know now we can’t be saved.
The heat wave, the cold snap. The tunnels and the roads back. There is nothing to see here.
I’m trying to keep a straight face. I’m trying to be at home in a new place. I know now we’ll be ok.
We’ll be ok.
Some things can’t be put into words. There is nothing I have not heard. There is nowhere I cannot be.
The moment you close your eyes. It passes in the silence of night. It passes but never dies.
One day I will get it right.
One day or maybe tonight.
