HE CAN’T SEE (E A D G B D, capo 2)
He talks to the trees because they’re listening and they never make a face. He lays it all out so he can see clearly and puts everything back in its place.
But every time he does his heart breaks. Every time he blinks he cries. Every time he does his heart breaks.
He talks to the stars because they’re always there. Even when the sky is blue. He closes his eyes and opens his hands wide and knows what he sees is true.
But every time he does he crumbles. Every step he takes he falls. Every blade of grass that stands, up he stands up, too.
Deep in the night he burns a whole in the sky. He wants to know if he’s right. He looks directly at the light. He looks for everything he can’t see.
Every time he does his heart breaks. Every time he blinks he cries. Every step he takes he falls down.
Every time he does his heart breaks. Every time he blinks he cries. Every step he takes he falls down.
Deep in the night he burns a whole in the sky. He wants to know if he’s right. He looks directly at the light. He looks for everything he can’t see.
