I heard about it from someone. Though I can’t recall who or when. I saw it coming in through the windows. And I saw it all over your hands.

You said you just wanted to hold me. You said you were just afraid. I don’t know why you thought I could help you. I don’t know what you thought I would say.

There will be rain. There will be floods. There will be pain. There will be mud. There will be hope. There will be love. There will be blood.

 

I felt it rushing to my head. I felt it fall to my feet. I felt it in all of my fingers. I tasted it between my teeth.

I saw it when I closed my eyes. I saw rivers run down the street. I saw it behind every smile. And I see it when I go to sleep.

There will be words. There will be lies. There will be frogs and there will be flies. There will be handshakes and there will be hugs. There will be blood.
